TThe Focus Group Discussion on “Entrepreneurship and Employability for the Deaf Community,” organised by the Make It Right Movement (MIRM) and powered by BAC, was held on 23 November 2024 at PJ City Centre. The event aimed to identify the challenges faced by the Deaf community in entrepreneurship and employment while exploring opportunities for growth and development in these areas. Puan Sariah Ibrahim, the president of DAWN, attended to offer her support and insights.

Ten Deaf participants shared their experiences running small businesses, highlighting their struggles, such as business failures and a lack of knowledge in areas like sales and financial management. These challenges have significantly hindered their ability to manage and grow their ventures effectively.

Amanda Kong, a visually impaired individual working with MIRM, provided valuable guidance and resources to help address these challenges. She focused on empowering persons with disabilities (OKU) by improving their understanding of business practices and strategies. The event served as a collaborative platform for learning and support, fostering sustainable entrepreneurship within the Deaf community.

Note about MIRM: Founded in 2015, the Make It Right Movement (MIRM) is a CSR initiative by Brickfields Asia College (BAC).
