Ms. Annie Ong and Ms. Susan Ong, facilitators sent by Malaysian Sign Language and Deaf Studies Association (MyBIM), were invited to deliver a talk in a workshop organized by the Terengganu Deaf Association (POPT). They presented on three key topics: DAWN’s Direction, Deaf Culture, and Deaf Rights in the Constitution. Their presence had a profoundly positive impact on the more than 80 Deaf participants who attended and gained valuable insights from the workshop.

The workshop aimed to encourage Deaf participants to increase their understanding of their rights as Deaf individuals. Equipped with this knowledge, they are now better prepared to advocate for accessibility rights in various settings, such as clinics, hospitals, and other public services at both state and district levels, particularly in Kuala Terengganu.

The aspiration is for the Deaf community to experience fairness and comfort in job opportunities, infrastructure, education, and other essential areas of life. Through ongoing efforts in education and advocacy, the Deaf community can continue to build a more inclusive society that respects and upholds their rights.
